The paper is devoted to the ballet performances of the St Petersburg stage, which include plots of harlequinades, as well as revealing the presence in these ballets of image-masks of the French branch of commedia dell'arte.

Rococo aesthetics and the French branch of the commedia dell'arte held a special place in performances on the Russian Imperial ballet stage, especially in Saint Petersburg.
