Submission Guidelines

Contributions to the Newsletter should be addressed to the Editors:

Contributions are accepted in English and Russian. Transliteration is in accordance with the modified Library of Congress system.

The Newsletter's contents will generally be in one of the following categories:

  1. Abstracts of Papers delivered at the Annual Meeting of the Study Group (between 500 and 1500 words; no footnotes)
  2. Notes (short articles or comment pieces; up to 3000 words; can include footnotes)
  3. Documents (archival materials, with short introduction and explanatory notes; no formal limit within reason)
  4. Reviews (of one or more non-English scholarly works on the Russian empire in the long c18th; no formal limit within reason)

The Editor's Postbag and other announcements has been largely subsumed into the Study Group's website and mailing list, so there is no need to include them in the Newsletter. Contributors are welcome to send such updates directly to the website's editor.

For longer articles (i.e. over 3000 words) or substantial review articles, members are directed to submit them to the new online journal published by our sister organisation in the US, the ECRSA, entitled ВИВЛИОθИКА
